In order for you to fully understand hypertension, there are a few basic things that you should know. One of these is, knowing what the causes of hypertension disorder are. In this way you can understand the big picture of the condition, and then you would know what appropriate intervention and treatment you should have.
There are lots of articles on the Internet that give information on the probable underlying causes of high blood pressure. However, information overload is not a good thing, since a lot of Sites give different causes for high blood pressure. So here are the essential information that you should know regarding the causes of high blood pressure.
Cause And Effect
There are mainly five events that may be happening in your body that causes you to have hypertension disorder. One is when you have an increased beating frequency of your heart. This is called as the “heart rate”. Having a high heart rate can lead to an increases of amount of blood that is flowing through your blood vessels.
Second, is when you have an increased amount of contracting force of the heart. This is because the stronger the force of contraction of your heart, the more volume of blood it ejects to your arteries. Thus, there is an increase in blood pressure.
Third is, when your small arteries are constricted. This would make blood flow more difficult and therefore your pressure rises. Fourth is when small veins in your body are being restricted. This has a similar effect with the third. Lastly is when there is an increased amount of blood in your vascular compartment. Because this results into a raise in blood flow, and then raises pressure.
Ripple Effect
Having certain diseases and conditions can in turn lead to having high blood pressure. This is due to the failure of certain organs affecting the circulatory system, due to other conditions. Some of them may stand alone, while some may be multiple conditions like a syndrome.
Some of the other conditions are chronic diseases, therefore resulting to chronic hypertension, while some are not. Some conditions can be mental problems; some even as simple as having an obstructive circulatory system, like having an embolism. Some can also be pulmonary conditions like cor pulmonale and cystic fibroses, which affects your lungs, and in turn your blood circulation.
Other health diseases too like having heart tissue disorders, and edema could also be factors that can cause hypertension. Obstructive sleep apnea, or reduced oxygen when you are sleeping can also induce hypertension. This is because there is a shortage of oxygen in your body, so you get an adrenaline rush, which raises your heart rate and increases heart contraction, of course leading to hypertension.
Renovascular obstruction, or obstruction of your kidneys can also cause hypertension. This is because your kidneys are damaged, and there is a decrease in blood supply, resulting to blood pressure increase. This is a very common cause for hypertension. However, it is curable.
Drug Use and Misuse
Other factors too like drugs can increase your risk, or can cause your hypertension. That’s why illicit drugs should not be used. While, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Sympathomimetics, Oral contraceptives, and Immunosuppressive agents should be monitored.
These are just some of the causes of hypertension. Other causes like wrong diet and obesity are common too. So take note of these conditions and see if you have them, so that you can monitor if you are already having high blood pressure.
